As a resident of the village I can assure you that the most intrusive events are: Blancpain endurance, Silverstone Classic, British GT, WEC support races (in that order). F1, especially these days, doesn't even register.... The wind direction also has an impact on whether there is any nuisance from the circuit operations. Somedays, when the wind is blowing towards the circuit, it is noisier than other days when it is blowing from the circuit towards the village.... its very strange!
The complaints regarding noise during previous Britcar event mostly came from the village of Whittlebury (I believe), and there are unconfirmed reports that one year the complaints were about a period when the race was suspended due to fog, and the noise was from the A43 road that runs between the village and the circuit

The airfield argument doesn't work, obviously. 70 years ago is not a relevant time to now. So fully agree.
However, the houses are sold at a price which takes into account the fact that there is a race track there. If a house is then purchased with this knowledge, then IMO that means complaints cannot then be made.
There's a reason houses near airports are a cheap.
