I wonder if the engine likes being kept in the high revs, like the LMP2 engine. These sort of tracks (Mosport and Watkins Glen) let the drivers keep the car in the power band, negating the lack of torque the LMP2 has compared to other cars. I wonder if the Lexus engine is particularly strong at the top end, but lacks a little torque in the low end, thus does well at the last two tracks.
