In general, I would think that one could run a car with a lot of downforce (even an older R&S MkIIIa, as an example) because the horsepower of the big motor would be able to overcome the drag in the straights, but the downforce would help hold the speed through the corners....

Something low profile in the main body area, however, would be tough to fit a big engine into....
