Part of being a great driver is putting yourself in the right team at the right time. Some do it by skill, others by being lucky.
The others may have proven to be beter in the same equipment but Bowe went off to CAT and then BJR, Lowndes results have suffered since leaving HRT and Seton didn't change his organisation to suit changing times and improving competition. Ambrose is showing he is a great driver, but Skaifey has the runs on the board.
(I can't believe I have written so much defending Skaifey. I don't particularly like him or HRT, I just have begrudging respect for people who do a great job).
