Your post got me thinking about days allocated for practice and/or qualifying for the 500 / 1000.
It has certainly changed over the years.
1963 to 1975 - Saturday Only
1976 to 1977 - Friday & Saturday
1978 to 1997 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
1998 to present day - Thursday, Friday and Saturday
