I agree Al, I dare say the bulk of heat load would be shed by the fins on the barrels and heads, there is not that much oil flow (particularly on cylinder walls) to extract much heat. However if air cooled engines overheat I believe it is the oil overheating before you ever get problems with the air cooling side of things being overloaded - which would be due to design and the engine driven fan.

Another reason for Porsche's change to water cooled engines from memory is was to comply with emissions regs, which I think might be due to the combustion temperature not being quite as high which reduces NOx emissions.
