It would have been interesting to see a proper turn out in some form for the British TCR cars, but I guess it's too hard to justify funding a supposed 'feeder series' like this instead of something more visible (and affordable) like the Clio Cup.
If it was ever going to work in the UK, it should have been promoted as an equivalent to the BTCC with a TV deal, understandable organisation and some main-stream promotion. Then, maybe they could have coaxed in some of the BTCC out-casts.
It came across a bit like a club championship, which again wasn't going to work when you could buy seat time with a TCR car in the much more established Britcar or 24H series at a considerably lower cost.
I was wondering, though, what would have happened to the touring car scene if NGTC was adopted across Europe/WTCC instead. It's clearly more interesting than TCR to the British market given that both TCR UK and TCT are seemingly struggling this year, so possibly it could have worked elsewhere too.
