That's true KA, but in the Ford situation, Rouse wasn't an official Ford Works Team, so they couldn't be told to let Eggenberger win the TT. (Probably then a spiteful reaction to send Eggenberger cars to the BTCC and take points away from Rouse. This is the sort of problem you get when Manufacturers become involved with championships that also include very capable non-works teams...)
