Fantastic memories. Chevettes and TR7s in Clipstone, Wykeham, grizedale etc. End-of-season TV rallysprints at Donington. Always happy to sign autographs and chat with folk.
For all the fury required to drive a Group B car in the mid 80s, remember he was also human to refuse to continue in San remo (was it?) because the crowds were spilling onto the stage and he couldn't bear the thought of hitting someone ... That really took some courage, to say no.
