I thought he was way back as well. But thinking about it, wasn't he a Red Bull guy previously? Guess Marko didn't call that right, although I don't remember him performing that well.
Maybe the stuff we sadly don't hear about much sold Ferrari on him. He might be a close driver in style to Leclerc and/or give great technical feedback. One great race driver and a great feedback guy could really help a team with limited testing. Sadly we don't really hear about guys like de la Rosa who can seriously help a team get their car dialed in perfectly. It's an important part of the team but costs make having that 3rd driver run instead of a paying guy tough.
