They could go with mid 2000s. I thought "Audi v Peugeot" was a pretty good film. Imagine "Lizards vs Risi" or "Corvette vs Aston"!

Eric Broadley is listed as one of the characters on IMDB, so it probably hasn't been entirely deleted from the film. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1950186...=tt_cl_sm#cast

Are you referring to Leo Beebe? He was real. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2016/0...-mans-in-1966/

Which were John Wyer , s words to Stirling Moss at the 59 Le Mans , where Stirling drove flat out to make the Ferrari,s chase him & hopefully cause them to not last the race . This tactic worked & allowed the second Aston Martin team car of Roy Salvadori & Carroll Shelby to win .

We had the film producers contact us about possibly borrowing some cars for filming the 59 race scenes .

But that fell through , possibly because for the Hollywood backers & American directors wanted the story just to be about Americans .
So they seem to have invented a story where an American car maker got an American car racer to design & build an all American car to go & beat Ferrari at Le Mans
Per Variety, the 1959 race is still in the film. https://variety.com/2019/film/review...ew-1203319686/

From the reviews I've seen it seems the movie is as much about the men fighting the bureaucracy inside Ford as it is America vs the world.

They've had real racers involved, Darren Law, Jeff Bucknum, etc. Let's give it a chance. It might be crap, but it might be good
