2000cc rules on the other hand, would have allowed for wonderful variety as seen in the BTCC... Instead you just got two weak series -- only 10 professional cars in ATCC, and another 5 or 6 professional cars in Super Touring, then privateers making up the rest...
Nissan, BMW, Toyota, Ford and Holden all competing on equal footing! Wouldn't it have been grand. Such a shame.
While it was amusing how the early 5.0L cars handled and the degree of forcefulness in getting the softly sprung sliding, pitching, rolling uncooperative thing around a circuit -- the modern Supercars sadly handle nowhere near as bad, and is not nearly as amusing.

I didn't know V8 at all back then. But the fact is that V8 became more popular than Supertouring.
