GTLM would be better. Not much they will have to do to make the current GT3 faster. More aero, an advanced diffuser, all pro drivers, custom tires, removal of the GTD BoP, and you are there. The BMW M6 is an example of a special dispensation being made to allow a car to run in GTLM. Should be ok to do since nobody else is doing that right now.
