In the US, EVs are eligible for tax breaks. Model 3 is eligable for the $7,500 tax break, bringing it below $30k. The UK deducts £4500 from the advertised price for all EVs as well, bringing that down a bit. Model 3 is just 20 cm longer than the Civic and Impreza.
I'd say it most certainly fits the family part of the thread, perhaps even more so than the Civic! I don't see a family man buying that rice box! But being an affordable family car is exactly what the Model 3 is designed to be, so that's why it'll be interesting to see how it does.
