TBH Lawson's priority is and always has been single seaters. The DTM tin top drive came a bit out of left field. Red Bull no doubt had their own reasons to put him in there, possibly to use Albon as a performance yardstick, possibly to toughen him up in a fender bender run them off the road class, who knows? Certainly there's a element of that in F1 these days too, so maybe a good all round learning experience.
I doubt he would have been doing another DTM season even had he won. He must obtain top results in F2 this season and he and Red Bull know diluting his efforts with another DTM campaign would compromise that.
