Having one driver representing rival manufacturers does looks weird on the face of it, particularly to us Europeans. But it's relatively common in Japanese racing - there have been Super GT drivers for Nissan who compete with Toyota in Super Formula for example. And Andre Lotterer famously raced against Toyota in WEC but with Toyota in Japan.
