I am always amused at those who live "dan sath" who have no concept of geography or distance. Living in the Lake District it's 148 miles to Oulton Park and 268 to Silverstone. A fellow racer from the south said to me that Anglesey was a northern circuit but i pointed out it was 234 miles from me.
On the other hand a Herts based racer reckons that on a Friday night it takes him less time to get to Croft than it does to Brands Hatch.
There are indeed too many meetings and I wonder how they can survive. I know the MGCC work on a 60% grid to pay the bills and if you take that with other clubs then there are a good few meetings that must be marginal. The issue is that there are commercial operators like MRL and Masters and Equipe who are there for the profit and then there are the clubs that are there for the competitors.
