Anyone else catch last night's "The Race" upon SkyONE?
Good Lord, it was dreadful.
Whilst the concept behind the series (10 celebs, race boys-vs-girls in a variety of forms of motorsport) is not without merit, the execution was severly lacking.
The live one hour show was fronted by the high brow duo of Denise van Outen (whose act appears to be nevering use a single entendre when a double is available) and Iain Lee (who must be crying himself to sleep as he sees all his colleagues from the "11 o'clock Show" making it big in Hollywood). The show degenerated into a feeble slanging match with sub-pantomime booing of Mrs Irvine's boy Edmund whenever he came out with comments like "women can't drive".
Then there was some on track action, and somehow the directors managed to make a two-car time trial in Maserati Trofeo's look pedestrian.
I shall, of course, be tuning in tonight.
