I think the hobby is alive and well. However, the 'Diecast' makers like Autoart and Minichamps have been left behind by more highly detailed resin models from Spark and TSM (True Scale Models).


Additionally, many Le Mans collectors have found 1:18 models take up too much space and there is a much better range of Le Mans cars in 1:43. You can also get ~4 1:43 cars for the price of a 1:18.


Based on my records, around 3,500 Le Mans cars have now been produced in 1:43, and for the last 15 years you can buy more than 90% of the grid. Here's a few of the 2019 I've bought this year:
