From the 2017 regs:
Location : As original.
Position : Free.
Orientation : Free, but the engine must remain longitudinal (or transverse) if originally longitudinal (or transverse).
Unless hybrids are allowed in 2018...

I think they will revise this regulation by learning from Gabura Racing that they tuned non-hybrid BMW i8 , so BMW Motorsport can build the M version of BMW i8 as well as the GTE version of BMW i8
