As far as racing is concerned, group 4 would make no sense since the 1976 934 turbo (with its K-Jetronic injection - why did they not homologate that for group 4 too? Would have made the car competitive in group 5 since this was the biggest difference to the 935!); and I don't think there was any interest (apart from club level) for a group 4 3000 cc class. Group 3 was obscure anyway.
