In 1988 the FIA forced a rolling start on the Bathurst 1000, and all the excitement and expectation of roaring thunder etc. became a damp squib. Rolling starts are dead boring and it's so easy to get an unfair advantage. A rolling start will take at least half the excitement out of the whole race. I prefer red flags to pace cars.
