How much power is a 16v Renault unit? Would it compare to a Vauxhall XE, Toyota, VW or Ford Zetec? Could you perhaps just change the head, induction and ignition on the 8v unit that is in a F Renault and still conform to the mono regs?

The clio 2.0L 172 Sport clio engine is 172BHP and the new 182 Sport is 182BHP would guess you could pick up a 172 engine easily and get 200BHP from it quite cheaply (not sure what the rules are in mono & F4). It has to be lighter than the Zetec engine but I guess about the same power (The Focus 170 was 2.0L 170BHP I think).
Jeremy I think a FRenault with a clio 2L motor in it would be quick and cheap
