If a 2nd class driver (Rod Millen) breakes the record(s) of two 1st class drivers (Walter Röhrl and Ari Vatanen) by non less than 40 Seconds the track must have been in absolut perfect conditions in that year 1994.
I still regret not gone with Martin Schanche in 1984 due to overbooked good value flights to the USA coz of the LA Olympics. After 1/3 of the track privateer "Mister Rallycross" and his Xtrac XR3 was measured 11 Seconds faster than Mouton/Pons in the factory Audi quattro. Just a little later he suffered a flat right hand front tyre. Martin pressed on regardless and did the other 2/3 of the way to the summit on three wheels and one rim and the Yanks went all completely nuts…
