Sports Minister Phil Reeves on Tuesday told parliament he had been advised the organisers had to terminate the naming rights sponsorship agreement with Nitro Distribution, after it failed to make payments under the contract.

Mr Reeves said checks had been done on Nitro's financial position before the deal was signed and there had been no indication the company would have trouble meeting its obligations.
