I don't think any race car would have escaped that, a solid wheel-to-wheel launch, unless the wheels were very well-protected (front wheel behind flimsy/normal bumper and rear wheel behind easily-squashed tray).
The utes look a lot more dynamic with the new tyre & suspension package, too bad the drivers got a bit over-excited. Not that carnage is new in the category inc. previous incarnation. Still gets a longer rope than the Supercars too, eg Price's squeeze of Alexander into turn 3 on the final lap of race 3.
