With the black magic wizardry shown currently in GT500 and previously in Formula 1, I'm surprised that Bridgestone hasn't ever had a proper go at an ACO championship or even Le Mans. The 2019/20 season would have been the perfect time for them to partner with Toyota: there will be no other works competitor and it would give them a chance to acquire track data (particularly crucial for Sebring and Le Mans) ahead of putting in a bid to be the tyre supplier of the new regulations the following season. Plus, a Japanese car on Japanese tyres winning Le Mans and the World Championship...
I think Michelin has a monopoly on the wec for the new rules, sadly. But the GR Super Sport had Bridgestone tires on it when it was presented last year for what it's worth. And that may be the basis for the hypercar lmp.
