I'm not sure how relevant this is, but the first TWR-built Commodores bore 20-something chassis numbers. I'm not sure what the first one was, but the Herbie Clips VL used at the 1988 Tourist Trophy (and the aborted Birmingham BTCC round) was 022. It makes sense that the Commodore chassis numbers would have simply been a continuation of the Rover sequence.
