Nojiri did what he had to do to give the #8 a chance at the title. They still need the #100 and #1 to both finish 7th or lower and the #36 to finish 3rd or lower, on top of winning the race, but they have given themselves a chance, unlike the unfortunate Sekiguchi after Nakajima's mistake.
The #100 is starting in a great position, but they will be wary of the Lexus race pace.
In GT300, Hiramine and Gamou both went under the lap record to secure the front row, erstwhile record holder Kataoka was third. Curiously, if the race ended as it starts, Gamou's #65 would take the title, but I'd wager the #55 should still be favourite as Takagi showed the car has pace in Q1 (Walkinshaw's Q2 effort was a bit disappointing) and should move up through the field during the race. If the #55 does struggle though, the title race would be wide open as a number of cars starting near the front still have a shot at the title through winning the race. I think it sets up very nicely.
