GT Cup was originally intended for retired GT cars I think.
I think GT Cup is perfect for the older models of GT cars, but I think they do a great job of welcoming those kinds of cars as it is (Chamberlain's Porsche!!) and at the end of the day a certain amount of it will be driven by what the teams/drivers want.

Many guys racing in the Gt Cup upper classes these days are looking to springboard into British GT or European GT racing. It makes sense for them to be running more up to date machinery in that regard

I think there should definitely always be a place in GT Cup for old spec GT3's, and any other novelties. It was great to see the MP4-12c Can Am on a few outings last year, always nice to see something a little different and this is the series to allow that
