You don't need a licence to marshal, and any newcomer is always welcome. Personally I spend the first couple of sessions with a trainee explaining why we do what we've done, flagging especially, and then pair them with an experienced marshal. I'll give them a chance to try flagging as well, as not all marshals want to do it - it is a skill.

But I won't share my winegums with them !
