JCB, I think, tested for Williams in F1 - hence the seat at Renault in 1999. I remember Cox interviewing him, asking him why he had chosen the BTCC, He said cos it's the place to be. How wrong was he, just when the BTCC started getting really bad.
Given a few more seasons, I think he'd have done better.
