You’ve got to remember Australia is a very small country in Historic racing terms, there just aren’t enough open wheelers and sports racing cars (despite the number of unused cars in sheds) to have the big fields we see overseas. Secondly touring car racing has always been the mainstay of spectator interest here, and the economics of running this event simply mean you need large grids and lots of punters.
