A long rear overhang would mean potentially a very long rear diffuser. And with an engine bay big enough for a twin turbo V12 there must be the possibility to move a smaller V8 quite far back.
I don't know. If you can get competitive performance out of a mobile brick like the Bentley GT3 I'm sure you could do something useful with an M8.
