Anyone know what caused the unhappiness?
There may have been some issues between Masterton and Grice in 1981 because the 3-litre competitors were unhappy at the ARDC who had changed the Amaroo 3-litre touring car series into a 3.5ltr series for 1981, which allowed the Grice JPS BMW team to enter the 635, which caused a lot of unhappiness.

Grice and Masterton also had a coming together during the opening round of the 1983 AMSCAR Series which left both sides unhappy with eachother, and Masterton expressing that on the podium at the end of the meeting.
