I love that sort of thing - it's amazing what you can actually make with all the left over bits !
Reminds me of when I was a young lad and had a 1948/215 (FX) Holden ute that required weekly maintenance. After I 'fixed' things I usually had to ring the NRMA to get the patrolman to get the beast going. In the end he would always drop by late Sunday afternoon to see if I needed assistance.
Over a couple of years we became great friends and that lasted until his passing a few years ago.
