Has historic racing ever been an exact re-enactment? The grids in 1960s/70s VSCC races were far less 'accurate' than the current Goodwood ones. The JCB and Lloyds and Scottish championships combined sports racing and grand prix cars. It's a sport as much as entertainment and certainly not a museum even if the principle interest might be in old cars...
