Brock's car was not ready in so much as the car was still in transit from competing in New Zealand at the Wellington 500 earlier in the year. Neville Crichton's own JPS BMW also wasn't back in time, so he took over the ex-Group C JPS BMW for the Winton event.

Jim Keogh had his ex-Group C Commodore going by the Sandown event that Brock returned for, and Steve Masterton had his Commodore ready for the first AMSCAR round, but it was a slow burn getting Commodore's onto the grid in the first half of the season.
