I am glad you had a good time. I love hearing first timers relay their experiences.
I can understand how an Englishman would get bored with the pre race. However, it is Memorial day on which we honor the war dead. It is also very traditional and is pretty much the same every year. I was not however impressed with Sandi Patty's version of the National Anthem.
