Speaking of test cars, how about some history from the C5-R to C6.R transition era:
C6.R Show Car at ALMS Mid-Ohio 2005-05-21
Above - I saw and shot this car in the Chevy display at Mid-Ohio. I was able to verify it to be what had been called, originally, the C5R-012 chassis. It was the last C5-R chassis but was never raced as a C5-R. It was fitted with C6.R bodywork and hardware and used as the initial C6.R test car.
Above - A rare shot indeed, I am glad the Chevrolet marketing person in the Mid-Ohio display was kind enough to open the door for me. NOTE however, the major shock - the Chassis Number plate reads
C6R-012, not
C5R-012!! (The factory race cars at this point were C6R-001 and C6R-002.)
Above - For you collectors, has anyone scored one of these? Has anyone ever
seen one (not on a car)? The race cars got a "C6R" decal, the Mid-Ohio show car got the heavy metal "C6R" emblem. Sure would like to hang one of those on my 'Corvette Room' wall....
