TW fired him 3 weeks before the season when there where no seats available(Paul Stoddart said a few times he was waiting for the Arrows situation because he wanted to sign Jos or HHF, but he could'nt wait anymore)

Salo was sacked days before the first GP. He got to stand in for Zonta and M. Schumacher (and got the Sauberseat as a result). Verstappen was also available for that Ferrari seat, but Ferrari never contacted him (or so he himself stated).
Delarosa was also sacked weeks before when every other team was filled as well. First Prost took him away from Minardi, then Jaguar took him away from Prost. Jaguar was at the time riding with Burti and Irvine, but they took Delarosa on and later traded Burti to Prost, to avoid court-action.
Moral: When a team wants a driver who in fact is available, they will get him.
Other Moral: When an available driver still doesnt land a drive, he is not wanted.
