Sounds like the normal "sell your soul to the devil" deal!
It works like this: Briggs signs Canto for a 10 year deal.
If Canto turns out to be a great find then Briggs can sell Canto to Ford or Holden for big bucks (or keep him under contract and earn a percentage of his earnings) or
If he turns out to be a bit of a Romano he drops him like a bag of spuds and he can't drive anything for the rest of his contract (unless he buys his soul back!)
It is a win win for Briggs and huge gamble for any young driver.
