a while back I mentioned the posibility of a V8 supercar race through the streets of my home town of Albury.

the motoring mags all put the idea to rest saying it wasnt going to happen and most people who know anything about motor racing agreed (myself included..but I still would like it)

end of topic ...or is it..

today my local paper have printed (front page again) an article about the possibility of the race going ahead..but not in Albury..just across the border in Victoria lies the town of Wodonga..I work in wodonga and its not far from my home..so i read on with interest..

last week the consortium involved in the project held a meeting with the victorian government to discuss holding the race in Wodonga..Mr Tim farrah (the man behind the bid) was alledgedly told that funding for the event is in line with the labor governments pledge of supporting major events in regional Victoria..but he would not confirm or deny that he was in discussions with the government over the issue.

The Wodonga council is also intersted in talking to the government about the proposal as well..allthough some members are totally against the idea.

now again im not sure if this is the way V8 supercar should be going ..by that I mean Street races in general instead of purpose built tracks..and i dont want to see places such as winton or sandown have to close down because they dont hold a round..but it is a hard decision to make..sure I would love to have a race in my home town and I would support it with pleasure ..but is this the way we should go..I say NO !!!.

maybe nothing will come of this just like the proposal late last year for albury..only time will tell..but Im not gonna start saving for tickets just yet.
