Geoff Brabham - Retired

I read in Motor Racing Australia today that Geoff Brabham has retired.

A shame he has given it away, because he has had a very good career. 4 IMSA GT-P title's for Nissan between 1988-1991, won the 1992 Le Mans 24 Hours for Peugeot, won the Bathurst 1000 for BMW, started in 10 or so Indianapolis 500s, with a best result of 4th (behind fellow Aussie Vern Schuppan) in 1983. That was an especially good effort because at the start of the month he didn't have a ride, but John Paul Jr crashed and broke a leg, allowing Geoff to replace him in the Team VDS Penske. Plus many other great achievements. A pity he didn't get many drives after BMW pulled out of Super Touring, was rumoured to get a some good drives, but they never came off.

His choice, but a shame he bowed out in such a low key way, but a great driver.
