Yeah, a real shame at both. I remember watching the 2001 Rolex 24 and they interviewed Dale Sr at some point either after or during the race and to paraphrase, Sr said "Going down the backstretch at night in the rain is the most fun I've had in a racecar." The man hand a couple of decades of racing left him....

And for Junior, I think that wreck was one reason but the concussions later in his career ended all interest in competitive racing for him.
