Bought Prema, spent millions developing the aero to be faster, signed teammates on heavily-subsidised deals. Others were allowed to win but if Stroll directly behind they had to let him through, and if behind him they weren’t allowed to challenge.

Led to some major embarrassments, especially at starts with people pulling out of the way to the side, and then acting as rear gunner for the whole race.

Then, because the series was virtually dead as people no longer wanted to pay to race against an unbeatable car, the FIA changed the rules for 2017, with a new, 100% spec bodywork/aero set up to mirror the already spec suspension.
Not to mention the Williams F1 simultor was converted to simulate his F3 car during his year in F3 thus depriving the team's F1 drivers of simultor F1 time. Plus his running an older Williams F1car to 'loophole' the F1 testing regs amd allow him to get used to F1 time and power in private testing at F1 tracks.

His year in F3 was not a full strength year with many teams not running due to the money Prema (Stroll senior) was investing in his sons future.

This year’s F3 field was far less strong than it had been two years ago when Esteban Ocon raced to the title ahead of Tom Blomqvist and Max Verstappen.
The huge sums Stroll’s billionaire father invested in his son’s campaign with Prema led many to believe his success was an inevitability, so they decided to race elsewhere. The field halved in size as six teams sat out 2016 and another, Carlin, dropped out temporarily mid-season. Accusations Stroll benefited from team orders in the season-opener and used special parts developed exclusively for him by Williams, leading to two disqualifications, fuelled the innuendo around him.

He is about as phoney a 'champion' as you can get.
