The "factory supported teams" at Clipsal amounted to what, 1 Audi, 1 Mclaren, 1 Porsche and 1 BMW... and one might assume the Porsche was only on the grid thanks to Liam Talbot's funding...
4 cars in a grid of 27, the rest of the cars are primarily funded by the wealthy drivers who employ a "pro" to co-drive if they wish
If you don't cede to the gentleman drivers wishes, then there is no AGT, full stop.
