Only just spotted this - how sad, RIP Roger.
Although I had not seen him for some years, I came to know Roger well & we frequently enjoyed some banter, not just at race meetings but also at model swapmeets as for a time he became interested in collecting Shackleton model Foden trucks. And yes, money was often tight - bemoaning the ever-rising costs in F3000 one day, he joked (I think!) that he would like to turn up at a race meeting towing the F3000 car behind a Morris Minor Traveller.
Sadly, another good man has departed this world.
