That was Josef Newgarden's 5th win this season and Rookie, David Malukas's first podium finish.
For the first 146 laps, that wasn't the most scintillating race, as the field turned into a 165mph train due to fuel saving. It wasn't until after the first FCY, which up until then had been dominated by Will Power, that the race started to come alive, as the teams were presented with a strategy dilemma; either stop, gain fresh tires but lose track position, or stay out. The red flag was annoying but couldn't be helped and it didn't detract from the race.
