Missed most of the opinions as I am a new member, so hope I am not too late to intervene.

Alonso came out on top due to making the most of what he had, talent, car and luck.
Schumi. Finished 3rd in Championship ater a disastrous season. US GP was a fair win.
The rest were mediocre, all of them lacking something that a true Champion needs. ie Kimi common sense, JPM a brain, the rest? Simple, genuine talent. Worthy enoungh as drivers but not a proper Champion among them.

No point in trying to rank no-hopers in my opinion.
